Consultative meeting and introduction of Emergency Agriculture and Food Safety Project EATS

Officials of the ministry of agriculture's agriculture and food safety emergency project (EATS) held an advisory meeting and introduction of the project with the directors of agriculture in Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir and Kabul provinces.
The meeting was held in Kabul today, and officials from EATS briefed members of parliament on their future plans and activities. The members of parliament also associated their views and profound questions which were answered by the project’s leadership.
Najmuddin Najm, deputy of the project said, "The aim of this workshop is to introduce and hear your speech so that we can implement our plans effectively. The purpose of this project is to generate job opportunities, provide food and implement public benefit projects which is being implemented in 34 provinces.
The Ministry of Agriculture MAIL project is designed for two years and has a budget of 100 million $ funded by World Bank.
According to Mr. Najm, reconstruction of irrigation networks, drainage management, cultivation of irrigated lands, production and distribution of improved seeds, support for food processors and resettlement of citizens are included in the project.
In this project, 20% share of women is considered and according to it, needy women are supported in the agricultural sector.
Construction of 200 irrigation networks, construction of 40 water reservoirs that irrigate 45,000 hectares of land, production and distribution of 30,000 metric modified wheat seeds for 20,000 farmers, construction of 1,000 fruit cold storages for gardeners, distribution of 22,000 home gardens for women And covering 27,000 hectares of flood land is one of the plans of this project in the next two years, which was explained to the participants.
Dr. Ishaq Sahebzadah, one of the deputies of the mentioned project, explaining the project information in a presentation, said, “With your help colleagues, we have successfully completed the ON FARM farm water regulation project, and We are going to implement this project with  your support as well, the commitment of the Government of Afghanistan to international community is to complete this project on time and successfully, to this commitment, we stand and strive to implement it better, we need your cooperation and support friends .
The director of agriculture of Kabul, Parwan, Panjshir, Kapisa provinces and employees of other directorates present at the meeting also shared their views.
