143 Onion and Potato Warehouses put into operation in Maidan Wardak at a cost of 83 Million Afghanis

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has completed the construction of 143 Potato and Onion warehouses in Maidan Wardak province under the Horticulture Chain Development Project (HVCDSP).
The exploitation of these buildings has begun by the farmers.
These buildings were built for farmers in Maidan shar center of the province and the districts of Seyedabad, Bandchak, Jalriz, Narkh and Daimirdad of Maidan Wardak.
Of the 143 warehouses, 35 are for Onions and another 108 are for Potatoes.
Beneficial farmers can now keep a large portion of their produce in these warehouses and sell it when the market needs it most.
The total cost of building these warehouses is 83 Million Afghanis, 80 percent of which is paid by the Ministry of Agriculture and only 20 percent by the farmers.
Each of these warehouses can store about 12 Tons of crops.
Increasing the income of farmers and keeping the relative price of Agricultural products in the market. constant is one of the positive effects of exploiting these warehouses.
