Nangarhar, Superior Place for Production of Vegetable and Fruit

Nangarhar is one of the green provinces of the country. The residents of this province are mostly engaged in agriculture and livestock. There is plenty of water in many districts of the province and therefore, abundant grains, vegetables and fruits are produced in the province.
Officials of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Directorate of Nangarhar province said that the farmers of this province grow okra along with other vegetables and get good yields from it.
According to these officials, okra is cultivated in almost all districts of Nangarhar and some farmers of this province are engaged in okra cultivation.
According to the statistics of the Statistics Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture (MAIL), Nangarhar okra had good yields in 2009, there were 166 hectares of okra fields in Nangarhar, from which 1,992 metric tons of okra were obtained. While there are no exact statistics on this year's production, but it is said that the production has increased compared to last year.
Nangarhar Agriculture Directorate said that due to increased production, the mentioned directorate is developing seasonal cultivation and is trying to make the farmers of the province more profitable, and the province to be self-sufficient in vegetable production.
