57.5 Million ($) Increase in EATS project budget by World Bank

World Bank provided another 57.5 million $ to fund Emergency Agriculture and Food Safety project (EATS).
The World Bank’s mission, which lasted from 12 to 15 July to review the activities of EATS project, evaluated the project's performance and it was positive. The results of this assessment were shared by officials of this mission in an online meeting with Deputy Minister of Irrigation and Natural Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Deputy Minister of Irrigation and Natural Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture Hashmatullah Ghafouri, instructed the project officials and related departments in the Ministry of Agriculture to complete their work in accordance with the time set by World Bank.
Members of World Bank mission said that because of the effectiveness of the EATS project, the bank would add another 57.5 million $  to its budget to better advance the project, including  20 million $ wull be used  to build or repair four silos in Kabul, Herat, Baghlan and Kandahar provinces. According to members of the mission, another  37.5 million $ will be spent on rebuilding irrigation networks, distributing improved seeds , building zero-energy cold storage facilities and building dense gardens in 34 provinces.
 The 100 million Agriculture and Food Safety Emergency Project was launched in September 2020 and is co-financed by  Government of Afghanistan and  World Bank. Another 57.5 million $  has now been added to the project budget by  World Bank.
