More than 14,000 Tons Improved Seeds will be distributed to Farmers this Year

 Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahady, Acting and nominee Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, met with officials of the National Union of Seed Companies in his office today, and said that more than 14,000 Metric Tons of Improved Seeds will be distributed to Farmers before cultivation, in the fall of this year.
 The Acting the Ministry of Agriculture added that this year the Improved Seeds should be made available to Farmers before the end of the Autumn Planting Season, in order to pave the way for increased production next year.
 He said that Although, the three seed companies had the opportunity to finalize the procurement issues, unfortunately the process has been slow so far.
He added that we will want improved quality and affordable seeds before the time for planting this Year.
 More than 14,000 Metric Tons of Improved Seeds are to be purchased and distributed to farmers through World Bank assistance through the Ministry of Agriculture's Emergency and Food Safety Project He said.
 Meanwhile, Sayed Abdul Qadir Sadat, President of the National Union of Seed Companies, thanked Anwar al-Haq Ahadi for his special attention to the sector, and expressed readiness to cooperate more with the Ministry of Agriculture.
  Mr. Sadat said that this year, in the first working days of the acting Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, he paid attention to the issue of distribution of Improved Seeds, which is the basis for increasing production.
