Aqrab 2: October 24, 2019

Construction of a standard pine nuts processing factory began in Paktia province.

Pine nuts is a well-known crop of Afghanistan that has received much attention lately, and now the Afghan government and the private sector want to invest in this sector.

Mahbobullah, in-charge of the factory, in the foundation stone laying ceremony said, “The factory costs 6,200,000 USD.”

In-charge of the factory added that alongside economic growth, the factory will also provide job opportunity for people to work.

Currently, 43,000 hectares of land is planted pine nuts trees in Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Nangarhar, and Laghman provinces.

With the construction of this standard process and packaging factory, Afghanistan's pine nuts is exported to the world markets under its own name. It will also be exported to the European and Central Asian markets under the brand of Afghanistan, which was not the case before.

Pine nuts and saffron are two of Afghanistan's most valuable crops that have a good market globally and the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has paid close attention to these crops.
